  Seducing Curves

Description: When Lauren agrees to meet her new client in the lobby of his latest acquisition, a local hotel, she thinks that she will be able to close their deal quickly. But when the sexy billionaire sees her, he can’t help be tempted by her luscious curves and soft hips. Now, his strong hands have slipped between her soft thighs and Lauren can’t believe how his touch is driving her wild with desire… and if she wants the deal she’s going to have to give him just what he really wants.

  Seducing Curves

Lauren tried to look confident as she walked through the glass doors and into the hotel lobby. She felt her heart beating hard and fast in her chest but told herself it was excitement rather than nervousness. It certainly wasn’t the fact that she was having her first face-to-face meeting with Dave Pierce.

As she crossed the lobby, she took a moment to smooth down her skirt and adjust her thin silk shirt. She was going to look calm, poised and together for this meeting if it was the last thing she did. Even if confidence was the furthest from how she really felt.

When she reached the front desk, she saw that the woman behind the counter had already recognized her and was smiling. “Hey, I didn’t know you were coming by today.”

Lauren smiled at the hotel manager who was also one of her best friends.

“Truth be told, Ashley, it was a bit last minute,” Lauren said with a smile.

“Let me guess,” Ashley said with a conspiratorial grin. “He called again and needs you,” she said sarcastically, her smile saying even more than the weight she had placed on her words.

Lauren felt the blush rise to her cheeks. “He is my client. I’ve told you before that there’s nothing going on. Sure, he calls a lot, but I’m his business broker. That’s my job.”

“Really?” Ashley asked, the doubt written across her face.

Of course, the part that really bothered Lauren was that it wasn’t just Ashley who was commenting about how close she and Dave had become over the last few months. When a normal client buys a business, no one usually notices. But when a self-made billionaire announces that he is going to start acquiring hotels to create a new competitive hotel chain, well, that makes the paper. And when his first purchase is in a small town like Summerwood and he hires a small town business broker to choose his new properties, that makes the front page and the gossip begins.

“Don’t you start, too,” she told her friend. “You know I’m good at this. I’ve brokered a lot of deals over the years. I mean, it’s just another deal right?”

“Another deal?” Ashley asked. “This isn’t just another deal. This is the deal that can put you on the map! Nail this and your career is made. You and I both know that. Hell, everyone knows that!”

Ashley was right, but Lauren didn’t need to be reminded, not today. She wished she could go back to the first day she got his call. She had no idea who Dave Pierce was back then. She didn’t know he was a billionaire. She didn’t know his reputation as a playboy, and more than that, she didn’t know how her life could change with just one call.

It had started simply enough. Ha had phoned, told her what he was looking for and why. They had started talking business and before she knew it, an hour had passed and they were still on the phone. By the time she finally hung up, she didn’t just know what he wanted, she knew what he needed. More than that, she felt like she knew him.

The two of them had hit it off so well that she had joked about buying the champagne when the deal closed and he had mentioned that he had a bottle in his refrigerator that would be perfect. Even though he was only a voice on the phone, she had stupidly imagined a very private champagne toast in his home to celebrate the deal closing. She even began fantasizing what he might be like in person and wondering if she had found more than just a new client.

Despite the romantic fantasy in her head, she had gotten down to business as soon as they had finished their first conversation. Within an hour, she had found the perfect hotel for him. It was a deal that met all of his requests and even had a few benefits he hadn’t thought of yet. When she called back and told him about it, he had hired her on the spot and left her with the biggest smile on her face.

It wasn’t until the news hit the papers that she discovered she had been one of dozens of brokers he had called over the course of the last few months. That also happened to be when she found out who he was - a self-made billionaire, generous philanthropist and genius entrepreneur. It was intimidating to say the least. If she had recognized his name when he first called, she may have let her nerves get the best of her and fumbled her pristine first impression. She certainly wouldn’t have felt comfortable making all that small talk and never would have confused his kind banter with the assumption that he was flirting with her. Instead, she had finally concluded that he was probably just being polite and from that moment on, she had tried to be professional.

But even now, she had to remind herself that Dave Pierce was only work as her best friend stood there staring at her like she had a thought bubble with his name on it floating above her head.

“Just work, huh?” her friend teased.

“Strictly business,” she assured her, though Lauren knew Ashley could read her mind. “It’s like any other deal really. I mean, sure, it’s a big deal, but just another deal all the same.”

“Well, you guys seem awfully involved for a relationship that is strictly business,” she quipped. Her tone let Lauren know she didn’t believe a word she had said.

Lauren rolled her eyes at the implication, but didn’t say anything more. Truth was, she didn’t disagree with her friend. Dave Pierce had been the most involved client she had ever had. Even though she had tried to keep things professional, she had been talking with him daily by phone, Skype or text. She had expected that a man like him would have managers to delegate to, but he never sent her to an underling and he always answered her calls or messages as soon as they came in. And if she was honest with herself, she enjoyed his personal attention. Each time her phone rang or buzzed, she found herself looking forward to the next conversation more than the last.

“You really are going to make me ask aren’t you?” Ashley smiled. “You keep dodging, so I’ll just come out and say it. You are working with Dave Pierce. Thee Dave Pierce! He’s handsome, smart and rich. Most wome
n would give anything to meet a guy like him and you guys talk almost every day. I mean, what billionaire does that? What woman doesn’t notice? There must be something more you aren’t telling me, Lauren. Did he turn you down? Did you turn him down? What?!!”

“You really do have a wild imagination,” Lauren said, hoping she sounded sincere enough to squash any further suspicion. Sure, she still had the occasional fantasy about what it would be like to be with him, but she always pushed the idea from her mind because it was just too far-fetched. “How could anything be going on anyway? I have never even met the guy. He’s just a voice on the other end of the phone, sometimes a few words on a screen. He’s just my client, Ashley, nothing more, nothing less.”

She had gone on so long that she needed to catch her breath and as she exhaled, a long, deep sigh fell from her lips. She wasn’t sure who she was trying to convince anymore, and she sure wasn’t doing a good job of making Ashley believe her as she just stood on the other side of the desk and stared with a serious expression and a doubtful frown.

“Really, Ash, there’s nothing going on,” she added. “Besides, do I look like the kind of girl that attracts billionaires?” She shrugged her shoulders and twirled around. She knew that with the kind of money Dave had amassed, he could have any woman he wanted. And as far as she was concerned most men wanted the same type of woman - rail thin and model-like. Curvy women like Lauren weren’t even on their radar.

Ashley seemed to take the bait. “I guess you’re right,” she said.

Lauren nearly gasped at the insult, but as her jaw dropped open to respond, Ashley suddenly cut her off.

“I think you’re way too smart to be one of those airhead girlfriends or trophy wives,” she said with an impish grin. “But if you could arrange a meeting with me, I think I could play the ditzy blonde just fine.”

Lauren laughed out loud, but then Ashley quickly changed her tone.

“But seriously, why are you here? Is it another inspection?” she asked, rolling her eyes. “The only thing we haven’t done yet is examine each room with a black light.” She feigned a shiver. “Please tell me we don’t have to do that.”

Lauren laughed again. “Not today. I think we’ve covered all that already.”

  “So now what?” Ashley asked.

“Today is the day,” Lauren said with a smile.

“The day?” She said emphasizing the phrase.

Lauren smiled back. “Yes. Today is the day. He is meeting me here today to sign the contract.”

“Omg, why didn’t you say something earlier,” Ashley nearly screamed, her cheeks flushing. “Dave Pierce is going to be here? Seriously? I mean, I know what I said about arranging a meeting, but… I mean, so he is really coming here? Like right now?”

Lauren took a deep breath and nodded. She was way more nervous than Ashley was, but wasn’t about to show it. She felt little butterflies dance in her stomach at the thought of finally meeting him, though she would never admit that seeing the sexy billionaire in person was the reason for her excitement.

“Actually, he should be here any minute,” she finally said as she pushed her hair back over her ear and looked around again just to make sure. “I was just thinking maybe we could borrow a meeting room, but when I called the clerk at the front desk suggested the penthouse instead.”

“Of course,” Ashley said looking down at the computer screen. “I don’t think anyone is in the penthouse and it has a great living room, perfect for a meeting,” she said more to herself then to Lauren as she rapidly punched some keys.

Lauren stood there and watched until Ashley’s face suddenly went ashen white.

“What’s wrong,” Lauren said softly, realizing before Ashley answered that there must be a problem.

“I don’t have to give you the key to the suite,” she said in an overly-excited whisper. “Dave Pierce has already arrived and he is upstairs waiting for you.”

  * * *

Lauren stood in front of the penthouse door, her hand shaking just a bit. She hadn’t planned to meet him like this. She had hoped they could meet in one of the offices downstairs, but had settled for the penthouse instead. It couldn’t be much different, she had reasoned, but now that she was standing outside ready to knock, it suddenly felt more like she was visiting his hotel room for a rendezvous rather than coming to sign a contract.

Steadying her nerves, she took a deep breath and exhaled. It was just business. That was all. Even if it was business with the most attractive man she had never met.

When she finally lifted her hand to knock on the door, she heard his voice come from the other side of the door.

“Are you going to come in or are you going to stand outside all day?”

Lauren felt a blush rise to her cheeks as she recognized his cool, confident tone. Without waiting a moment longer, she reached for the door, turned the handle, and stepped inside the suite.

The room she entered was breathtaking. Although the hotel might have referred to it as a suite, it looked more like a large apartment. Directly in front of her she saw a magnificent room with floor-to-ceiling windows, elegant white couches, a small baby grand piano and even a large bar area. However, Lauren hardly noticed any of it. Instead, she found herself focused on the man standing in the middle of the room, staring directly at her.

  Dave Pierce.

For a moment, Lauren just stood there unsure what to do or say. Even though she had worked with him for several months already, meeting him in person was proving more intimidating than talking with them over the phone. For one thing, none of the pictures in the paper and online did him any justice at all. He was much taller than she imagined, nearly a foot taller than she was in heels, and his broad shoulders made him look like a well-conditioned athlete for a major league team. But despite his solid build, his sharp tailored shirt and pants proved he was nothing short of a confident businessman.

The other thing his photos hadn’t seemed to prepare her for was the expression on his face. There was something about the way he was looking at her while she stood there, unmoving and a little insecure. He was looking at her with such intensity that it was throwing her off guard and she couldn’t have sworn her knees were about to buckle under the pressure of his stare.

“Lauren,” he said almost too casually, “it is nice to finally meet you in person.”

His voice was the same friendly tone she had grown accustomed to and for a moment, she felt more at ease. In fact, she was almost inspired to rush toward him and give him a hug like she would an old friend, but she knew better. Instead, she gathered herself and took a deep breath.

“Yes, sir. It’s delightful to meet you too,” she said with a crisp smile. Her words were followed with a gulp and as she moved toward him, she hoped she had showed more confidence than she felt. She was determined to keep things professional and refused to make a fool of herself. Carefully, she walked into the room, placed her bag down on the coffee table and swiftly pulled out a dark green folder. “All we have to do is sign these papers here,” she added holding out the documents for him, “and the hotel will be yours.”

“Just like that?” he asked with a frown. She noticed he made no move to take the folder from her.

“Just like what?” she asked, suddenly feeling as though maybe she had forgotten something incredibly important.

“With all due respect, Lauren, do you really expect that after all these months of working together you can just hand me these papers, have me sign them and then walk back out again?”

A long, exasperated sigh escaped her and she let the papers drop to her side. He was right. Even though she had thought she was handling her nerves okay, having him point out the obvious only made her realize that she was trying too hard. If he had been any other client, she reasoned, she would have been more friendly and easy going. But he wasn’t any other client. She was incredibly attracted to him and at least for her, their relationship had become more than just business.

  Feeling a bit
deflated, she looked down at the folder in her hand and then back up to him, suddenly unsure of herself and how to react.

“Let’s try this again,” he said with a grin. “It’s nice to finally meet you in person, Lauren.” As the words left his lips, he offered her his hand.

She instinctively put the folder down on the coffee table and reached out to accept his handshake. Forcing an awkward smile, she tried to hide the rush of blood to her cheeks as she touched him for the first time. His grip was firm and strong and she couldn’t help think how good it felt have his large hand claim her much smaller one. And just like that, their first introduction became just like every other interaction between them. It just seemed effortless.

“Nice to finally meet you,” she finally said and meant it.

He held her hand for a moment, squeezed it gently and then let go. He was standing so close now that she could smell his cologne and the unexpected smell caught her attention. She smiled gracefully, trying to ignore the effect his scent was having on her, but if she were honest with herself, he smelled delicious and all she could think about was nestling up to his neck and maybe even kissing him.

“Well,” he began with a smile, “it seems there is only one more thing to discuss before we get down to business and finalizes this deal.”

“And what would that be?” she asked, looking into his dark blue eyes.

His smile was disarming. “Well, I can’t just sign the deal without knowing what you are willing to do to make sure everything works,” he told her, his grin hitching to one side.

Her brow rose automatically. “What do you mean?” she asked, her mind racing furiously as she wondered again if she had forgotten something.

The expression on his face seemed intense and she suddenly got the feeling that he wanted to ask her something more, but she could see him hesitate as he paused and then gathered himself just as she had done before she knocked on the door. Finally, he seemed to calm his nerves and then continued.
